Week 3: My Demographic

Millennials are all about technology and what’s the next best thing and where can I get it before anyone else. We rely on social media websites like facebook, twitter, and Instagram to keep ourselves updated in the world. Because we have social media, we know what is going on all around the world regardless if it is important or not. I feel that this is the reason behind Millennials accepting differences so easily. We have all this information that we can access which helps us wonder and become curious about why certain things aren’t socially acceptable. Millenials can adapt to new technology quickly because we like new things that are fast and easy to use.
Millennials do not put up with workplaces that are unpleasant. I myself do not like where I work and do not plan on staying there because I believe you should at least like where you work or your life will be a bit miserable. Only because I spend a lot of my time at work and since I dislike it that means I dislike 3 to 4 days out of my week. I do mention my bad days on social media as a way of venting. Millennials also ask the people who surround them for advice on everything whether it comes to school, work, products, etc. instead of just going for it, Millennials are quite skeptical.
I would have to agree with this definition of what a Millennial is because I feel I am like that. Millenials do rely on technology to communicate as well as embrace new technology. We grew up with computers, cellphones, as well as TV, so

Week 3 EOC: Krochet Kids

"Empower the people to rise above poverty"
"To create sustainable economic development programs that support holistic growth of individuals and communities living in poverty"

"To inspire the knowledge of a generation about their ability to bring change to a world that is in need"

Krochet Kids is a completely non-profit organization that focuses on allowing families in poverty to provide for themselves by learning how to crochet. Kohl taught his two close friends Travis and Stewart how to crochet in high school and thought of it as a hobby. In college they would volunteer to help out underdeveloped nations which in the end humbled them greatly and fueled them to want to help more. After Stewart came home from volunteering in Uganda, he told his friends how the people there are depending on government camps as well as government aid for over 20 years. The people were done with depending on them but they had no other choice. This is where Krochet Kids basically started.
What Krochet Kids do is that they go to an underdeveloped country and teach the people how to crochet and create items that they can sell through the organization. They are paid a wage that will allow them to provide for their own family. This was all because Krochet Kids taught the people how to crochet. Just a hook and some yarn. So far they have helped 150 people in Uganda and Peru. They are working and are now capable of receiving education. This allows the people to have a job and give them a sense of empowerment, that they can provide for themselves instead of depending on government aid.

One thing that is very unique about this company is that each hat has a tag inside that has the name written (not printed) of the person who created that hat or other clothing items. On the website they actually show statistics on how making an income can change your life. The company itself is still growing and wants to eventually branch out into more underdeveloped countries.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

"Customers form expectations about the value and satisfaction that various market offerings will deliver and buy accordingly. Satisfied customers buy again and tell others about their good experiences." - Marketing: An Introduction, 7

This past Christmas my mom gave me an electric blanket as a gift. I get cold very easily, so during winter I like to bundle up at night because it is quite difficult for me to sleep soundly when I'm cold. I used my electric blanket all the time. When I got home from work, when I was watching TV, and of course while I was sleeping. So when my electric blanket stopped working after only about 2 months of using it consistently, I decided to see if it was possible to take it back to Bed Bath and Beyond to either get it replaced. There was no warranty on it or anything and I did used it a lot, so I knew there was a slim chance. When I presented my blanket to the associate, they lady said that I could return it no problem. The best thing about it was that not only did they give me a brand new one, but they also refunded my money. I'm not certain if that was a mistake, but it happened and I left extremely satisfied. I will be continuing to go to Bed Bath and Beyond because they accepted my return with no problem at all. I also have told my circle of friends about this experience so now they know that Bed Bath and Beyond cares about customer satisfaction.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

Music has always kept me in movement. Whether it be mentally or physically, music is my motivation to keep going in life. It picks me back up when I am enduring the lows in life and it enhances the highs that life brings along. I rely on music to make my life better than it truly is. I’m open minded to listening to all genres of music because it makes me want to understand why the listener prefers that specific genre. Of course everyone has their favorite song, band, genre, etc., but something that is extremely important to me is how you experience music.
Listening to a great mix with some high quality headphones or at a venue that has great acoustics makes me feel like I am over the moon. Live sound is what I want to pursue so I do try my best to attend as many concerts as my wallet can handle. Being at an amazing venue with a great audience mix is everything to me. I pay attention to what frequencies are too loud or too soft, as well as which frequencies are too muddy and need to be cut. I'm not only watching the performance, I'm observing the venue and where everything is placed. I enjoy looking at how the employees mic the instruments, amps, and vocalists. This is why I'd like to strive to work Front of House (FOH) for a venue that really cares about their audiences’ experience. When I'm at a venue with a great audience mix that envelopes around me that is an experience I will remember forever. That experience is what I want to create for other people. I want to be able to mix live sound and make it something that the audience will remember.
I have been to many venues where the bass is overwhelming and the higher frequencies are dampened and all I wish I could do is fix it somehow. Many people like to feel the bass vibrate throughout their body, but what’s the point if you can’t even enjoy the melody of the song? In my opinion everything should be balanced to where you can hear every part of the song. If a mix is making me want to cover my ears because there is too much feedback or too much of the highs or lows, I can’t enjoy it. I want the mixes that I adjust to make people feel something. I want my mixes to make people move, emotionally and physically.
I’m always on the lookout for concerts that are at different venues. That way I can analyze how live sound is handled by different people in different environments. I especially enjoy how live sound is mixed during festivals. My first festival was Life is Beautiful. I already knew that there would be some interesting issues because of the fact that it was downtown and there were a lot of people to please. Since it was downtown there are buildings that sound bounces off of. This caused a little bit of feedback at some of the stages. However, although there was some feedback, I must say that the mix was pretty spot on when it came to being able to hear the songs in its entirety. One stage in particular had a great mix for what it was. The Troubadour stage was an open ended dome. Because there was a roof over the area, it was easy to feel surrounded by sound. The bass was at a level where you could feel it, but it did not over power the rest of the music.
