Week 10 EOC: Road to Success
Week 9 EOC: Creative Content
For my final project I would like to create a radio
commercial (since I am an audio production major) that is about 15- 30 seconds
in length. I will get my friend Mel or my brother-in-law Tony to speak a bit of
broken English with a few Spanish words explaining how necessary my snack is to
whoever is listening. I want them to speak broken English but not too the point
where listeners do not understand the commercial. The script itself will be a
bit repetitive because that is how most radio commercials are and the more they
say the name of the product or catch phase it will mostly likely get stuck in
the listener’s head like Del Taco’s Chorizo Burrito. I really want to create an
annoying catch phrase like the Del Taco commercial that I hear on 94.1. The guy
It will have a mariachi band in the background that will not over power the
vocals. I am going to use my microphone at home which is a Rode NT1A condenser
which is pretty quiet for a microphone but it does the trick. After recording
the audio and finding a royalty free track of a mariachi band online, I will
then edit and mix in Pro Tools. I will add some effects to make the 30 second
commercial exciting and fun so that people will be interested in listening. I
will then use the logo my friend is making me for my product, upload that to a
video and then apply the radio commercial to it so during my presentation
everyone can see my logo and listen to the commercial at the same time. I am thinking
about adding a second person so it will be some sort of a conversation instead
of just one person talking about my product.

Week 4 EOC: Job Recruiters Turn to Facebook to Find Candidates
Finding new employees through
Facebook is interesting. I do not believe it is the most efficient way to find
new candidates for companies, but the statistics of the article says otherwise.
The way I see it is that it does make sense to use this method to find new
employees to save some money on job boards. It is interesting that recruiters
would rather look at Facebook profiles over LinkedIn since LinkedIn is very
business oriented compared to Facebook. I feel that it would be more
professional and efficient to use LinkedIn to find employees only because that
website is truly for business. Using Facebook can be a pretty smart move though
because everyone and their mothers are utilizing Facebook everyday. It is so
common to use Facebook it is almost a must for every human being. Because of
this, it is easy for companies to post a “now hiring” post and get comments
easily. My manager actually uses Craig’s list to find new employees and I would
rather her use Facebook than that website since Facebook is less sketchy. I do
not think Craig’s list is a business oriented website to recruit new employees.
The fact that it is a 50% success rate to find new employees via Facebook,
which is not very good in my opinion, makes Facebook seem pretty inefficient to
use for this task. I say if your company needs to cut down on spending on job boards
or other recruiting services, to go on ahead and use Facebook for your company’s
sake. If your company does not need to make cuts, I would use a more
professional website like LinkedIn so you have a better chance and finding am
employee who is serious about working for your company.

Week 3: My Demographic
Millennials are all about
technology and what’s the next best thing and where can I get it before anyone
else. We rely on social media websites like facebook, twitter, and Instagram to
keep ourselves updated in the world. Because we have social media, we know what
is going on all around the world regardless if it is important or not. I feel
that this is the reason behind Millennials accepting differences so easily. We
have all this information that we can access which helps us wonder and become
curious about why certain things aren’t socially acceptable. Millenials can
adapt to new technology quickly because we like new things that are fast and
easy to use.
Millennials
do not put up with workplaces that are unpleasant. I myself do not like where I
work and do not plan on staying there because I believe you should at least
like where you work or your life will be a bit miserable. Only because I spend
a lot of my time at work and since I dislike it that means I dislike 3 to 4
days out of my week. I do mention my bad days on social media as a way of
venting. Millennials also ask the people who surround them for advice on
everything whether it comes to school, work, products, etc. instead of just going
for it, Millennials are quite skeptical.
I would have to agree with this
definition of what a Millennial is because I feel I am like that. Millenials do
rely on technology to communicate as well as embrace new technology. We grew up
with computers, cellphones, as well as TV, so
